The Haven: A She-Shed Transformation (Guest Post: Crate and Cottage)
Inspiration |

When we first learned that Rachel from Crate and Cottage was converting her shed into a beautiful she-shed, we were so excited!  We knew from the photos of her home on instagram that she would create something truly special. We asked her to write a guest post that we could share with you

Our “Haven” She Shed

We purchased our Woodtex shed right after we moved into our farmhouse. Its purpose was never to be a shed but to be another extension of our home. Our Tiny House was constructed to serve as a pool house and an extra sleeping quarters.

We looked at many Woodtex sheds but fell in love with the Haven for its space and lofted areas that we now use for guest sleeping. We had the shed ordered with a few special instructions for the lofts and for the windows to be double insulated. It was delivered within a few weeks and came exactly as we imagined.

For our space, I knew I needed a sink, kitchenette, a small living area, a bathroom, and a sleeping quarters. We managed to fit that all into a 200 square foot space. We contracted out these ideas and started first by having it plumbed in and ran for electricity. We installed a ductless unit too which keeps the shed heated and cooled. Then came the walls. We went with vertical board and batten sheets and then had the interior all sprayed Alabaster White, by Sherwin Williams. To our surprise, we had just enough boxes of leftover flooring from our home build to finish out the floors in this space.

With a little decor ingenuity, I made this space my vintage Haven. We enjoy it for many reasons, but I find that its such a sweet surprise for people who come over. They love taking a step back in time to enjoy this she shed. It really is a great getaway and my most favorite “room” in our home.
